Fire extinguishers are an important part of your company's health and safety policy, and with regular servicing and maintenance they should be available to use should the need arise.

Your extinguishers should be properly serviced once a year by a qualified engineer. They should also be checked weekly by your team for any damage, loss of pressure or missing tags. We service to the BS5306 standard, and conduct a thorough visual inspection of the extinguishers, checking the body, valve and fittings as well as all its working parts.

Businesses must comply with the 2005 Fire Safety Order on fire extinguisher servicing. This requires that all fire safety equipment be maintained in an efficient state, in working order and in good repair. Failing to maintain accordingly places you in violation of health and safety law and local authority guidelines.

Failing to maintain your extinguishers may also breach your insurance cover, invalidating any fire-related claim you make. It may also mean that the fire extinguishers do not work at a crucial time when they are required.
